Le groupe allemand EnBW a annoncé ce 28 août avoir fini de poser les 64 fondations du parc éolien offshore « He Dreiht », le futur plus grand parc éolien offshore d'Allemagne. Présentation en images.

1 350 tonnes par fondation

Situé à près de 85 km au nord-ouest de l'île de Borkum (nord-ouest de l'Allemagne), le parc éolien « He Dreiht » sera composé de 64 éoliennes de dernière génération de 15 MW fournis par Vestas.

Pour l'heure, ce sont les fondations dites « monopieux » en acier qu'EnBW vient de finir de poser. Implantées sur le fond marin(1), elles mesurent 70 m de long et 9,2 m de diamètre et pèsent chacune environ 1 350 tonnes.

L'installation des éoliennes de Vestas sur le parc débutera quant à elle au printemps 2025, EnBW indiquant « sauter délibérément la saison automne/hiver afin d’éviter au maximum le mauvais temps, précisément pour les travaux d'installation »(2).

Un facteur de charge de 42,8%

D'une puissance cumulée de 960 MW lors de sa mise en service prévue « fin 2025 », le parc est censé pouvoir produire 3 600 GWh (ce qui correspondrait à un facteur de charge de 42,8%), soit de quoi satisfaire l'équivalent des besoins électriques annuels de près de 1,1 million de foyers selon EnBW.

Issu d'un appel d'offres de 2017, le projet a été réalisé sans subventions publiques, précise l'énergéticien. Ce dernier évoque un investissement dans le projet avoisinant 2,4 milliard d'euros (EnBW a obtenu un financement à long terme de 600 millions d'euros de la Banque européenne d'investissement) et mise sur les Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) pour remplacer les aides classiques associées à la loi sur les énergies renouvelables.

Plusieurs partenaires importants ont ainsi déjà conclu des contrats de long terme d'achat d'électricité du parc He Dreiht : l'aéroport de Francfort (pour 85 MW de capacités), Evonik (150 MW), Salzgitter (50 MW), Bosch (50 MW), Deutsche Bahn (20 MW), la filiale de télécommunications PASM (100 MW) et SHS-Stahl-Holding Saar (50 MW).

RWE vient de remporter gros à domicile. L’énergéticien allemand s’est vu attribuer deux des trois zones d’un appel d’offres de 5,5 GW d’éolien offshore, en mer du Nord. Cela représente un total de 4 GW pour RWE, qui remporte les lots N-9.1 et N-9.2 d’une capacité de 2 GW chacun. La construction de ces parcs éoliens devrait commencer en 2029 et 2030 pour une mise en service en 2031 et 2032 , annonce RWE.

Éolien en mer du Nord : Vinci et Siemens décrochent un contrat de 2,9 milliards d'euros

Vinci et Siemens Energy ont remporté en groupement un contrat de 2,9 milliards d'euros pour concevoir, construire et installer deux plateformes de conversion électrique d'un parc éolien en mer du Nord, a annoncé mercredi le groupe de construction français.

L'opérateur allemand de réseaux électriques 50Hertz a attribué à Dragados Offshore, filiale de la société Cobra IS du groupe Vinci, ainsi qu'à Siemens Energy, ce projet comprenant une plateforme en mer, qui permettra de convertir en courant continu le courant alternatif produit par le parc éolien LanWin 3 à 120 km des côtes allemandes, a précisé Vinci dans un communiqué.

Le contrat inclut aussi "une station terrestre (onshore), située à Schwerin dans le nord-est de l'Allemagne (qui) convertira ce courant continu en courant alternatif. Celui-ci sera ensuite injecté dans le réseau électrique pour être transporté puis distribué dans le sud du pays".

La plateforme destinée à être installée en mer sera construite dans le chantier naval de Dragados Offshore en Andalousie (sud de l'Espagne), selon la même source.

En incluant ce contrat, Cobra IS "aura la charge de réaliser neuf plateformes offshore de conversion de courant électrique" d'une capacité cumulée d'"environ 16 GW", précise Vinci.

Eolien en mer : TotalEnergies et EnBW vainqueurs d'une enchère en Allemagne

Le français TotalEnergies et l'allemand EnBW ont remporté vendredi un appel d'offre en Allemagne pour la construction de parcs éoliens en mer pour une somme totale de 3,02 milliards d'euros, a indiqué vendredi le régulateur allemand.

Les enchères portaient sur deux lots de futurs parcs offshore situés en Mer du Nord, au large de l'archipel de Heligoland (nord), qui seront dotés d'une puissance totale de "2.500 megawhatt", selon un communiqué de l'Agence fédérale des réseaux.

L'entrée en service de ces parcs est prévu pour 2031.

TotalEnergies déboursera la somme de "1,95 milliards d'euros" via sa filiale Offshore Wind One, dont il est le seul et unique actionnaire depuis le récent départ de son partenaire allemand RWE.

EnBW déboursera de son côté 1,065 milliard d'euros pour son lot.

La concession, conclue pour "une durée de 25 ans, pourra être étendue à 35 ans", a précisé TotalEnergies vendredi.

"Ce succès permettra à TotalEnergies de bâtir un hub éolien offshore de 3,5 GW dans la partie allemande de la mer du Nord, en tirant parti des synergies entre ce nouveau projet et la concession remportée l'an dernier", s'est félicité l'entreprise dans un communiqué.

Le groupe français a en effet déjà été désigné en 2023 attributaire de deux concessions maritimes en Allemagne, une en mer du Nord, l'autre en mer Baltique, après avoir gagné un appel d'offre géant de 12,6 milliards d'euros, partagé avec le britannique BP.

Ces enchères confirment "l'attractivité des investissements dans l'éolien en mer en Allemagne", s'est félicité le président du régulateur du réseau Klaus Müller dans le communiqué.

"Ils constituent une autre étape importante vers la réalisation de nos objectifs d'expansion offshore", a-t-il ajouté.

L'éolien est une part importante de la stratégie de l'Allemagne pour atteindre son objectif de neutralité carbone en 2045, avec notamment un objectif de 2% de la surface terrestre couvert par ces installations.

Concernant l'éolien en mer, l'Allemagne a pour objectif d'atteindre une capacité de 30 GW d'ici 2030, contre 8,8 GW installés à fin 2023.

La coalition d'Olaf Scholz - qui inclut les écologistes - a légiféré, depuis deux ans, pour alléger les procédures d'installation de parcs éoliens et solaires et réalisé des investissements massifs.

Le système d’enchères négatives mises en vigueur en Allemagne pour les appels d’offres éoliens en mer continue à faire s’affoler les compteurs. Totalénergies et l’énergéticien allemand EnBW, désignés lauréats le 21 juin par l’Agence fédérale des réseaux pour deux concessions d’une capacité totale de 2,5 GW en mer du Nord, se sont engagés à hauteur de 3,02 milliards d’euros pour remporter le marché.

RWE has made the investment decision for its Nordseecluster, involving offshore wind projects with a total capacity of 1.6 gigawatts (GW). The wind farms will be built in the North Sea, about 50 kilometres north of the island of Juist. Suppliers of the main components have already been selected for the cluster as a whole.

EnBW starts construction of 960MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm

Expected to achieve full operations by the end of 2025, the German offshore wind project will generate sufficient clean energy to deliver electricity to 1.1 million households, with an estimated annual yield of 3.6 billion kWh

German electric utility company EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg has commenced construction works on the 960MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm located in the German North Sea.

Located nearly 85km northwest of Borkum and approximately 110km west of Helgoland, the offshore wind project represents an investment of close to €2.4bn.

Once operational, the He Dreiht project will generate sufficient clean energy to deliver electricity to 1.1 million households. The annual yield of the offshore wind farm, which will feature 64 Vestas V236-15 wind turbines, is expected to be 3.6 billion kWh.

The German offshore wind farm is owned 50.1% by EnBW, while a partner consortium consisting of Allianz Capital Partners, AIP and Norges Bank Investment Management holds the remaining 49.9%.

EnBW secured the contract for the He Dreiht offshore wind project back in 2017 during the first offshore auction held in Germany.

The company plans to install the first foundations in the seabed in the coming few days by utilising the Thialf floating crane.

Besides, the foundation installation works will continue into the summer. The wind turbines and cables are being manufactured simultaneously and are scheduled to be installed and laid in early 2025.

The He Dreiht offshore wind farm is slated to achieve full operations at the end of 2025. Dutch-German grid operator TenneT is anticipated to link the wind farm to the grid by leveraging an offshore converter station and two high-voltage DC export cables.

EnBW CEO Georg Stamatelopoulos said: “EnBW will play its part in further accelerating the energy transition in Germany, which is why it wants to invest a total of 40 billion euros in the energy transition by 2030 – the lion’s share of it in Germany.

“We are investing around 13 billion euros alone in constructing wind farms and solar parks as well as flexibly controllable and hydrogen-ready gas power plants. Our aim is to be a climate-neutral company by 2035.”

Vattenfall and BASF sign purchase agreement for 49 percent of Germany’s Nordlicht offshore wind farms

Vattenfall and BASF have agreed the sale of 49 percent of Vattenfall’s Nordlicht 1 and 2 wind farms to BASF. The two companies are thus deepening their partnership in the field of renewable energy.

Nordlicht is already Vattenfall’s second major offshore wind project in which BASF is participating as a partner. In 2021, BASF acquired almost half of the shares in the Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.The Nordlicht wind project is being built in the German North Sea without state subsidies and, with a total installed capacity of 1.6 gigawatts, will be the largest offshore wind farm project in realization for Vattenfall to date.

Vattenfall is responsible to develop and construct the Nordlicht sites and intends to use its share of future electricity generation to supply customers in Germany with fossil-free electricity. BASF will use their share to supply its chemical production sites in Europe, especially in Ludwigshafen.

Germany launches 5.5 GW offshore wind tender

Germany’s Federal Network Agency has launched an offshore wind tender comprising a total of 5,500 MW in three areas in the North Sea.

The three sites are located about 110 kilometers northwest of Borkum, on the edge of the border with the Dutch exclusive economic zone.

The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency has carried out a preliminary investigation of the areas on behalf of the Federal Network Agency.

Essential information was collected, for example on the marine environment, subsoil, wind and oceanographic conditions.

These will be made available to all interested parties as part of the call for proposals.

Awardees no longer have to carry out these investigations themselves, unlike what happens in areas that have not previously been centrally examined, according to the agency.

The award of the seabed lease will be based on a legally prescribed points system. Up to 60 points will be awarded for the bid value, which reflects the bidder’s willingness to pay.

In addition, the so-called qualitative criteria will be applied.

The proportion of electricity from renewable energy sources in the production of wind turbines, the proportion of apprentices, the use of particularly environmentally friendly foundation methods and the scope of long-term electricity supply to third parties will also be assessed.

A total of up to 35 points will be awarded for qualitative criteria and 90% of the successful bidder’s payments will be used to reduce electricity costs.

In the latest tenders for centrally pre-examined areas in 2023, in which a total of 1.8 GW were tendered, total revenues of €784 million were generated.

Offers must be submitted before August 1, 2024. Once the offers have been reviewed and the award procedure has been completed, bidders will be informed of the decision and the bidding results will be published.

Those awarded the contract will have the right to apply to the competent Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency for a planning permit for the development of an offshore wind farm on the land.

In addition, there is the right to connect the site to be built to the electrical grid for the transport of electricity generated by offshore wind turbines.

In addition to the latest auction, the Federal Network Agency already launched a tender for 2.5 GW on January 29 in areas that have not previously been centrally examined.

Prysmian confirme son contrat à 5 milliards d’euros dans l’éolien en mer en Allemagne

Prysmian sera bien à la manœuvre pour fournir et installer les 4 400 km de câbles pour acheminer l’électricité produite par les éoliennes à Balwin 1 et 2 en mer du Nord allemande jusqu’à la région de la Hesse, au cœur du pays. Le groupe italien a indiqué, le 15 février, avoir signé les contrats avec Amprion, le gestionnaire du réseau électrique allemand en charge du projet.

Prysmian avait été désigné comme fournisseur privilégie en août 2023. Le marché se chiffre à environ 5 milliards d’euros, soit le plus important jamais signé par Prysmian en termes de montant mais aussi de kilomètres de câbles , indique le groupe italien. Ce projet s’inscrit dans l’objectif de l’Allemagne d’atteindre 70 GW d’éolien en mer d’ici 2045.

L’Allemagne maintient le rythme dans ses appels d’offres pour atteindre son objectif de 30 GW d’éolien en mer en 2030, contre un peu plus de 8 GW aujourd’hui. L’Agence fédérale des réseaux a ouvert, mardi 30 janvier, deux nouvelles zones pour une capacité respective de 1 et 1,5 GW en mer du Nord.

Les deux secteurs, qui se situent à 120 km au nord-ouest de l’archipel d’Heligoland, n’ont pas fait l’objet d’études préliminaires par les services... (abonnés)

Germany added 2.9 GW of onshore wind power in 2023, more than the previous year.
The total installed capacity at the end of 2023 was 60.9 GW.

By 2030, installed capacity is expected to increase to 115 GW. To achieve this goal, 7.7 GW must be added each year in Germany.

In 2023, the majority of wind turbines in Schleswig-Holstein (1.1 GW) came into operation.

During the year, 80% more permits for onshore wind turbines were also issued than the previous year. Around 8 GW have been announced and are expected to be installed in the coming years.

The Arcadis Ost I offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea added 300 MW of capacity. This means that approximately the same amount of offshore wind energy will be added in 2023 as the previous year.

A total of 8.5 GW of offshore wind power is installed in the Baltic and North Seas.

Glennmont, Ørsted start construction of Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind project

Located 70km off the coast in the German North Sea and expected to be fully commissioned in 2025, the Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind project will be equipped with 83 SG 11.0-200 DD turbines, with each having a capacity of 11MW

Glennmont Partners from Nuveen, a fund manager investing in clean energy, and Ørsted have started the construction of the 913MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind project in Germany.

Situated 70km off the coast in the German North Sea, the facility comprises three offshore wind farms, namely Borkum Riffgrund West 1, Borkum Riffgrund West 2, and OWP West.

The three projects were originally awarded to Ørsted in auctions in 2017 and 2018. In September 2019, the projects were renamed as Borkum Riffgrund 3 with plans to build them as one joint project.

Once fully commissioned in 2025, the Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind project is expected to become the largest wind farm by export capacity in Germany.

During the construction phase of the project, Jan De Nul Group will install 83 monopile foundations. The steel foundations will support as many SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines, which will be installed in 2024.

Each of the turbines will have a capacity of 11MW and a rotor diameter of 200m.

Glennmont Partners acquired a 50% stake in the Borkum Riffgrund 3 project in February 2022.

The remaining 50% interest in the project is owned by Ørsted. The company will construct the offshore wind facility under a full-scope engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract.

Besides, Ørsted will carry out operations and maintenance services for a period of 20 years as well as facilitate a pathway to market for power and green certificates.

Glennmont Partners CEO and managing partner Joost Bergsma said: “It is fantastic to see the construction of Borkum Riffgrund 3 commence, and Glennmont looks forward to its planned commissioning in 2025.

Iberdrola and Masdar close €1.6bn alliance to develop offshore wind in Baltic Sea
Baltic Eagle will have 50 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 9.53 MW, built on monopile foundations

Iberdrola has signed a strategic agreement with Masdar, a major renewable energy group based in Abu Dhabi, to co-invest in the 476 MW Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm, located in the German Baltic Sea. Following confirmation that all the necessary regulatory approvals have been received, Iberdrola will have a majority stake of 51% in the project, which will help to accelerate energy independence in Europe.

According to the terms of the transaction, the valuation of 100% of the project amounts to around 1.6 billion euros. Iberdrola will control and manage the assets, providing operation and maintenance services and other corporate services.

In July, Ignacio Galán, executive chairman of Iberdrola, and the CEO of Masdar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, signed the agreement as part of a broader commitment between two clean energy powerhouses. Both parties see this as a strategically important transaction and a critical milestone that strengthens a partnership that will allow further renewable energy investment opportunities to be explored across various technologies and regions.

Baltic Eagle will have 50 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 9.53 MW, built on monopile foundations. The project will produce 1.9 terawatt-hours (TWh) of clean electricity annually, enough to meet the demand of 475,000 homes and avoid the emission of 800,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere per year.

This wind farm, which is scheduled to come into operation by the end of 2024, has a minimum regulated tariff of €64.6/MWh for the first 20 years. In addition, it has already sold 100% of its production with long-term contracts.
