25 éoliennes de 4 MW à ....... 4650 m d'altitude en Chine :
World’s largest ultra-high-altitude wind farm in operation in Xizang

January 2, 2024 evwind

A large-scale wind power project, standing at an average altitude of 4,650 meters and with a total installed capacity of 100 megawatts, commenced operation on Monday in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region. In recent years, Xizang has actively promoted the development of new energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind power. The region’s total installed capacity includes hydroelectric power and emerging energy sources such as wind and solar energy.

According to CHN Energy Investment Group (CHN Energy), the group of 25 wind turbines in Nagqu is expected to provide approximately 200 million kWh of electricity annually, saving around 60,000 tonnes of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 160,000 tonnes.

La Chine lance la construction du plus grand parc éolien offshore flottant du monde, 1000 MW.
China Is Building World’s Biggest Floating Offshore Wind Farm

December 27, 2022 evwind

China has begun constructing the world’s largest floating offshore wind farm at a cost of CNY23 billion (USD3.3 billion), Hainan Daily reported.

The local branch of Power Construction Corporation of China, or PowerChina, started work on the 1,000 megawatt project off Wanning in southern Hainan province yesterday, the report said. When completed, it will generate 4.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for the local area every year.

The project is centered 22 kilometers off the coast at an average depth of 100 meters and covers an area of 160 square kilometers. Its floating platforms make the undertaking more expensive and difficult to build than those with fixed foundations.

The first phase will have a capacity of 200 MW and is scheduled to be ready by 2025. It will include 12 wind turbines, each with a 16 MW to 17 MW capacity. There will also be a 220-kilovolt station onshore, linked to the turbines via submarine cables, transmitting energy to the grid.

The project’s second phase will add about 800 MW and will be finished by 2027.

China Plans Mammoth Offshore Windfarm

By Julianne Geiger - Oct 21, 2022,

> The Chinese city of Guangdong plans to start the of a massive 43.3 GW offshore wind farm.
> The location of the wind farm is ideal, with winds strong enough to run the turbines between 43% and 49% of the time.
> The wind farm's total production would equal the total power production of countries such as Poland and Argentina.

The Chinese city of Chaozhou in Guangdong has plans to begin construction on its massive 43.3 GW offshore wind farm within the space of a few years, according to the city’s most recent five-year plan.

The location of the wind farm is ideal, with winds strong enough to run the turbines between 43% and 49% of the time—a figure that is high for the industry. But it’s not just the utilization rate that is impressive. At 43.3 GW of power generating capacity, the offshore wind farm will be capable of churning out as much power as the entirety of Poland or Argentina.

An equally impressive statistic of this planned wind farm is likely its price tag—which wasn’t divulged.

For comparison, China added 16.9 GW of offshore wind capacity in 2021, according to Bloomberg. This one plant, set to be complete in just three years, would dwarf that by a factor of 2.5. China has the largest fleet of offshore wind turbines in the world, according to Bloomberg.

Just days ago, China’s President Xi Jinping said in a speech that the country’s shift to reach zero carbon emissions would be tempered with energy security in mind. “Based on China’s energy and resource endowments, we will advance initiatives to reach peak carbon emissions in a well-planned and phased way, in line with the principle of getting the new before discarding the old,” Jinping said earlier this week, suggesting that fossil fuels wouldn’t meet a hasty death at the hands of renewables at the expense of energy security.

China’s wind power prospects are nevertheless ambitious.

One of China’s wind turbine manufacturers, Goldwind, is in advanced talks to build a wind turbine factory in Brazil to service the local Brazilian market. China has also just finished production of a wind turbine that has the largest roto diameter in the world at 827 feet and is capable of single-handedly generating 63.5 million kWh per year and servicing 30,000 3-person households.

The wind turbines have a unit power of 13.6 MW and the diameter of their blades is 252 meters.
Coinciding with the celebration of the 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which opened yesterday in Beijing, China put into operation its latest novelty in the field of offshore wind generation (in the interior of the sea): a turbine with a power of 13.6 MW.

It is the most powerful in the Asia Pacific region.

The diameter of the blade is 252 meters, the largest in the world. The wind turbine can generate 63.5 million kWh per year, which guarantees the supply of 30,000 homes.

The information was released by the “People’s Daily,” a newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party.

“The new Chinese wind turbine has the largest single-unit capacity in the Asia-Pacific region and the largest propeller diameter in the world. The application of the offshore wind turbine would promote the industrial modernization of the country’s wind sector and would promote the transformation of the country’s energy structure”, according to the “Diario del Pueblo”.

China Three Gorges Power va investir 6.5 milliards de dollars dans 3 gros parcs éoliens totalisant 5 GW dans le Guangdong.
China Three Gorges Power to invest $6.5bn in offshore wind power

January 19, 2022 evwind

Chinese state-owned power firm China Three Gorges Corporation is to spend $6.5 billion on three off-shore wind farms in Guangdong province amid schemes to diversify its portfolio.

Combined, the three plants will give the firm a total of 5 million kilowatts wind power capacity, making it the largest offshore operator worldwide, according to the Financial Times.

While the hydropower giant has a current capacity to generate up to 26 gigawatts of electricity from solar panels and wind turbines, it aims to push this figure to 80GW by 2025, it was further reported by Bloomberg.

As a result, the corporation has also scrutinized potential acquisition of green projects in Mexico and agreed a deal for assets in Spain.

Additionally, projections indicate that China expects a 30 percent growth in power generation from solar and wind plants and zero growth from hydroelectric ones.

This is mainly attributed to the fact that hydro developments are impeded by falling costs of competing energy sources and that optimum places are already being utilized.

That said, China – with offshore wind capacity of 9.4GW – is anticipated to overtake the UK – global leader with capacity of 10.4GW – in 2022.
