La Colombie certifie 3 milliards de barils
Colombia certifies 3.1 billion oil barrels

Tue May 4, 2010

BOGOTA (Reuters) - Colombia has certified about 3.1 billion barrels in oil reserves, including proven, probable and possible reserves, double the country's average thanks to a surge in foreign investment, Mines and Energy Minister Hernan Martinez said on Monday.

In an interview for the Reuters Latin American Investment Summit, Martinez said Colombia also expects to end this year with oil production of 800,000 barrels per day and lift output to more than 1 million bpd of crude by 2011.

Tu as du nouveau Raminagrobis ?

Le BPreport 2009 donne pour la Colombie :

2004 : 551 000 b/j
2005 : 554 "
2006 : 559 "
2007 : 561 "
2008 : 618 "

Buoyed by better than expected results so far this year, Colombia's petroleum trade association said Thursday it has revised upward its crude oil output projections for 2010, predicting that production will come close to equaling the 1999 high.
Alejandro Martinez, president of the Colombian Petroleum Association, told Platts in an interview the group's computer modeling indicates output for the entire year should average 800,000 b/d, near the 816,000 b/d record set more than a decade ago.
Association economist Alejandra Hernandez said by the end of the year, daily output likely should average around 840,000 barrels, just under the monthly record of 847,000 b/d set in December 1998.
In addition, the 42-member association predicts the country will be pumping 1.1 million b/d by 2015, or 100,000 b/d more than the goal set by President Alvaro Uribe and his Mining and Energy Ministry.

Output is expected to reach at least 1.2 million barrels a day by the end of 2012, one oil company official says, nearly double the average daily production reached last year.

Brazil and its huge offshore oil finds may be getting much of the oil world's attention these days, but Latin America's energy scene has another rising star: Colombia.
In the latest upward revision of the nation's production targets, a top official of state-controlled oil company Ecopetrol said Monday that Colombia's crude oil output should reach at least 1.2 million barrels a day by the end of 2012, nearly double the average daily production reached last year.

The ramping up of crude production would strengthen the country's status as the region's fourth-largest oil producer and probably lead to increased Colombian exports to the U.S., analysts said. That would be good news for U.S. consumers. Although much of the world's oil resides in nations whose regimes are mercurial or hostile to the United States, Colombia is a staunch ally with a relatively stable government and economy.

Pedro Rosales, executive vice president for transportation and refining for Ecopetrol, Colombia's largest oil company, said in an interview Monday night that wildcatters in the eastern states of Casanare and Meta had met with such unexpected numbers of gushers that the company was straining to get the crude to market.
"The success is overwhelming our pipeline system's capacity," said Rosales, who also outlined a plan for a $4.3-billion, 500-mile pipeline to transport the newly found heavy crude from eastern oil fields to the Caribbean oil depot.

Output is rising rapidly: In March, Colombia averaged 763,000 barrels of crude a day. That's up from an average of 672,000 barrels daily for all of 2009.

Government and industry officials attribute the rise to Colombia's open-door policy with regard to oil drilling. In contrast to neighboring Venezuela, which limits foreign companies' ownership of oil projects, Colombia has attracted billions in outside investment thanks to relatively low tax and royalty rates that have lured dozens of private-sector producers.
Colombia has also benefitted from an influx of Venezuelan oil executives and engineers, many of whom were fired from Venezuela's state-run oil company by that nation's socialist president, Hugo Chavez, after a bitter 2002 strike. The eastern part of Colombia features crude that resembles that of Venezuela's Orinoco Belt, the largest reserve in the hemisphere. The Venezuelan expatriates working here are experts at dealing with the heavy oil that represents the bulk of Colombia's recent energy finds.

Colombia to auction off 230 oil fields

2010-06-22

Colombia will auction off its 230 oil exploration blocs including those situated in the Pacific region and along the maritime border with Nicaragua.

'During the Ronda Colombia 2010 beginning Tuesday in the Caribbean city of Cartagena, the oil fields will also be offered in the Amazon jungle,' director of the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH), Armando Zamora told Bogota's El Tiempo daily.

With 80 companies qualified for bidding, Zamora said, the government is expecting to earn between $250 million and $500 million through the auction.

The move will help the country to achieve the target of producing 1 million barrels of oil per day by 2015, he said.

Mines and Energy Minister Hernan Martinez had said earlier this month that there were a 'couple of (interesting) fields' along the maritime border with Nicaragua, where seismic work has already been conducted and it would appear that they have some important structures'.

Nicaragua and Colombia have been locked in a border dispute since 2001, when the former declared a 1928 treaty setting the boundary in the Caribbean Sea as invalid and took the case to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Toujours moins.

Colombia oil output continues to hit record highs

Jun 9, 2011

BOGOTA, June 9 (Reuters) - Colombia's oil production shot up 19 percent to 923,000 barrels per day (bpd) in May versus a year ago, continuing to break historic records, the National Hydrocarbons Agency said on Thursday.

Latin America's No. 4 oil producer has seen oil output rise to record highs mainly due to better security, heavy crude and incremental production at existing fields, experts say.

Oil production rose 2.3 percent in May compared with April, the agency said.

Colombia Oil Reserves Rose 10% In 2011; Government Says More Needed

May 18, 2012 Rigzone

BOGOTA - Colombia's proven oil reserves climbed 10% last year compared with 2010, but the government says more is needed and is urging companies to spend more on exploration.

According to data released late Thursday from the government's oil licensing agency ANH, proven reserves were 2.259 billion barrels at the end of last year, versus 2.058 billion barrels in 2010.

Colombia is Latin America's fourth largest oil producer and is likely to soon reach a record 1 million barrels a day of crude oil output, after averaging 936,000 barrels a day last year. Oil production last month averaged 955,000 barrels a day.

However, Mines and Energy Minister Mauricio Cardenas warned earlier this week, in a speech to oil companies in Cartagena, that focus needs to shift toward building up reserves.

"We have to invest more in [exploration]," Cardenas said. "Let's not just put the foot on the accelerator of oil production, let's fill up the tank."

Cardenas said state-controlled Ecopetrol, which is responsible for 60% of production in Colombia, "has 8.3 years worth of reserves, and there are companies here that have less than that. We need to focus on exploration."

Ecopetrol has 1.857 billion barrels worth of proven reserves of oil, far less than Brazil's Petroleo Brasileiro SA, which has reserves of about 15 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
