Saudi Oil Output Rises to 8.5m Barrels Per Day

10 December 2009 RIYADH

Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest oil supplier, raised crude production to as much as 8.5 million barrels a day as signs of a global economic recovery boost demand in Asia.

Saudi Arabia is pumping 8 million to 8.5 million barrels a day, Khaled Al Buraik, executive director of state oil company Saudi Aramco, said today. Output was about 8.19 million a day last month, after falling as low as 7.86 million a day in February, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

“Most demand for oil is coming from the Far East,” Al Buraik told reporters in Kuwait, adding that “demand is increasing much slower than anticipated.”

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, of which Saudi Arabia is the largest producer, agreed on record output cuts last year as the global recession curbed demand, dragging down prices. Oil futures have since risen 64 per cent in New York, recovering from a low of $32.40 a barrel last December.

“Our production in 2010 will definitely be increasing but we will still have millions of barrels in spare capacity,” Al Buraik said. “We have 4 million in spare idle capacity” now.

Saudi Aramco has delayed its Manifa heavy-oil field development because of lower demand, al-Buraik said. “If the market needed it, we can always advance” the project, he said.

Manifa Delay
The Dhahran-based company expects to start production at Manifa in 2013 and complete the project in 2015, Chief Executive Officer Khalid Al Falih said on December 7. Saudi Arabia originally planned to complete the development by mid-2011.

Manifa, which involves building a causeway to 27 shallow- water drilling islands, will eventually produce 900,000 barrels a day of heavy crude, 900 million cubic feet a day of associated gas and 65,000 barrels a day of condensate, a light oil.

In May, Oil Minister Ali Al Naimi said Manifa would only start production if the market needed more oil. The project is one of several Saudi ventures to boost output capacity, which reached 12.5 million barrels a day in June, Al Naimi said last month. —

SAUDI ARABIA

After completing its crude oil production
capacity expansion program in 2009, which
increased capacity to 12 million b/d (and
12.5 million b/d if Saudi Arabia’s share of
capacity in the Divided Zone shared with
Kuwait is included)
at a total cost of more
than $100 billion, Saudi Aramco is now
determined to expand its capacities in the
gas, oil refining and petrochemical sectors.
“We are planning to increase gas production
and processing capacity by 4.5 billion cubic
feet per day by 2014, representing a 40%
increase relative to existing capacity,” the
Saudi national oil company explains in the
introduction to its 2009 annual report.
Downstream, several projects are underway,
including the development of two exportoriented,
integrated refining-andpetrochemical
complexes, the second phase
of the Petro Rabigh complex and a new
petrochemical plant. On 24 June Saudi
Aramco and Total finalized an $8.5-billion
funding facility for their refining/
petrochemical venture in Jubail.

.............

GE wins $500 million Saudi oil field contracts

14 Dec 2010 Bloomberg

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — General Electric says it has won contracts worth almost $500 million to provide equipment and services to a remote oil field in Saudi Arabia.

GE said on Tuesday it was selected by state oil company Saudi Aramco to outfit the Shaybah oil field with 11 gas turbine generators and other equipment to boost power supply at the site.

Shaybah sits in a remote region in the southeastern part of Saudi Arabia and has the capacity to produce an average of 750,000 barrels of crude per day.

Saudi Aramco plans to use the new equipment to expand output by another quarter million barrels a day and boost the processing of natural gas into liquid form for petrochemical uses.

GE plans to ship the equipment in the first half of 2012.

Lien

Toujours moins.

Saudis seek massive boost in oil drilling capacity: Report

Reuters, Mar 29, 2011 NEW YORK:

Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, summoned top oilfield service companies over the weekend to help the country quickly boost its oil rig count by 30 per cent and give the kingdom additional spare oil production capacity, Simmons & Co analyst Bill Herbert said on Monday.

Herbert wrote in a note on Monday that Saudi state-run oil giant Aramco met with leading oil service companies and announced plans to quickly expand its oil rig count to ensure it has extra production capacity.

In April 2010, Saad al-Treiki, Vice-President for Operations at Aramco, stated in a news conference reported in Saudi media that over 65 billion barrels (10.3 km3) have been produced from the field since 1951. Treiki further stated that the total reserves of the field had originally exceeded 100 billion barrels (16 km3)

Saudi Aramco sees full capacity at Manifa oil field by 2014

June 7, 2011 egyptoil-gas.com

Saudi Arabia's 900,000 barrels-per-day (bpd) Manifa oil field will reach full capacity by 2014, earlier than expected, state oil giant Aramco's 2010 annual review, published on Monday, showed. The company is also planning to upgrade Safaniya, the world's largest offshore oil field, to maintain the maximum capacity of the Arabian heavy crude at the field, it said.

Aramco is speeding up the development of the Manifa oil field after it said in its 2009 review that the project would not pump at full capacity until January 2024, as the company looked to cut costs following the oil price slump in 2008 associated with the global economic slowdown. 'Significant progress was achieved in 2010 on Manifa, the giant Arabian Gulf offshore field under development,' Aramco said in its 2010 report.

Manifa, which would be brought online in phases, would pump '500,000 bpd of the Arabian heavy crude oil by 2013 and 900,000 bpd by 2014,' it added. A company executive had previously said, in May, that Aramco would reach full production at Manifa by early 2015. Heavy, sour Manifa crude would be processed at two new refineries due to come online from 2013 onwards. One is in Jubail, on the Gulf coast, in a joint-venture with France's Total. The other is in Yanbu, on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil exporter.

In Safaniya oil field, work to maintain maximum production capacity is split in two phases. It includes installing electrical submersible pumps (ESPs), the upgrade of crude-gathering facilities and power supply. The project -- Safaniya Phase 1 Upgrade -- now in the detailed design phase is expected to be completed in late 2013, Aramco said. It did not provide capacity figures for Safaniya, but capacity of the field is around 1.3 million bpd.

Production prévue de 500 000 b/j dés Juillet !

Saudi Aramco's Manifa Oil Field On Stream Ahead of Schedule

April 15, 2013 Rigzone

State-oil giant Saudi Arabian Oil Co., known as Saudi Aramco, said Monday it has started production at its vast Manifa oil field three months ahead of schedule.

Output at Manifa is expected to reach 500,000 barrels a day in July, which will gradually increase to 900,000 barrels a day by the end of 2014, Aramco said in an emailed statement.

Aramco has previously said that the field will have an initial capacity of 500,000 barrels a day of crude in the first half of 2013.

Crude from Manifa will feed refineries in the kingdom that are currently under construction. One is being built under a joint venture with France's Total SA and another with China's Sinopec.

Saudi Aramco, fully owned by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world, with activities in exploration, production, refining, distribution, shipping and marketing.

It plans to invest $35 billion over the next five years in crude oil exploration and development in a bid to keep its oil production portfolio robust, Chief Executive Khalid al-Falih has said.
