India has installed a cumulative 57.7 GW of solar power generation capacity as of June 30, 2022. It is also in the process of installing a further 48.7 GW of PV projects and 16.7 GW under bidding, according to information recently provided by power minister RK Singh in the lower parliament.

Most of these solar power projects are being installed by private sector developers. Considering the normative cost of INR 4.5 crore ($568,063) per MW, an expenditure of approximately INR 2.60 lakh crore ($32.8 billion) has been incurred on installing the cumulative solar capacity of 57.7 GW.

Rajasthan tops in solar installations, accounting for 25% (14.4 GW) of the cumulative PV capacity installed in the nation. It is followed by the states of Gujarat (7.8 GW) and Karnataka (7.6 GW).

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy released INR 2,633.92 crore ($332 million) of funds under its various solar schemes during FY 2021-22, compared to INR 1,854.28 crore ($234 million) in 2020-21 and INR 1,591.15 crore ($201 million) in 2019-20.

The National Institute of Solar Energy has estimated that India has around 750 GWp of solar capacity potential, based on land availability and solar irradiation.

Hydropower supplier starts building 1 GW solar project in India
SJVN, a hydroelectric power company in India, has started building a 1 GW solar plant in Bikaner, in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Indian President Droupadi Murmu has laid the foundation stone for a 1 GW solar project that will be developed in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Hydropower producer SJVN is developing the ground-mount solar project.

SJVN won the rights to build the project under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme, in an auction conducted by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA). The hydropower producer has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the solar project to Tata Power Solar.

Total project development costs have been estimated at INR 5,492 crore ($720 million). The installation is expected to generate 2454.55 million units of electricity in the first year of operations and approximately 56,838.32 million units over 25 years. The project is scheduled for commissioning by May 2024.

L’Inde a installé environ 13 956 MW de capacité solaire et 1 847 MW de capacité éolienne au cours des 12 mois précédant le 31 décembre 2022, selon les analystes de JMK Research.

Les nouvelles capacités solaires comprennent 11,3 GW de solaire à grande échelle, soit une augmentation de 47 % par rapport à 2021. Les développeurs ont également déployé environ 1,9 GW de nouvelle capacité en toiture (un chiffre en baisse de 42 % par rapport à l’année précédente) et près de 700 MW de PV hors réseau, en installation décentralisée.



La majeure partie de la capacité solaire à grande échelle en 2022 a été installée dans les États du Rajasthan, du Gujarat et du Tamil Nadu. En décembre 2022, le pays disposait ainsi d’une capacité installée cumulée de 120,85 GW d’énergies renouvelables selon le ministère indien des énergies nouvelles et renouvelables (MNRE).

Pour contexte, l’énergie solaire représente environ 52 % de l’ensemble des énergies renouvelables, suivie par l’énergie éolienne (35 %), la bioénergie (9 %) et les petites centrales hydroélectriques (4 %).

L’Inde conclut un appel d’offres pour 800 MW d’énergie solaire avec un tarif de 0,028 €/kWh
La capacité photovoltaïque a été appelée par le conseil de régulation de l’électricité de l’État indien du Gujara et a été répartie entre trois développeurs. Les installations seront déployées sur le site du parc solaire de Khavda sur la base de contrats de construction, d’exploitation et d’entretien (build-own-operate).

SAEL Industries, NLC India et KPI Green Energy ont été les lauréats de l’appel d’offres lancé par le conseil de régulation de l’électricité de l’État indien du Gujarat, le Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL). 800 MW d’énergie solaire ont été initialement appelés auxquels s’ajoutent 800 MW supplémentaires dans le cadre d’une option de surallocation (greenshoe).

SAEL Industries a remporté 400 MW et NLC India 300 MW à un tarif de 2,71 INR, soit environ 0,028 €/kWh chacun. KPI Green Energy s’est vu attribuer 100 MW à 2,70 INR/kWh (environ 0,028 €/kWh).

Les promoteurs retenus mettront en place des projets de production photovoltaïque dans le parc solaire de Khavda sur la base de contrats de construction, d’exploitation et d’entretien (build-own-operate).

Un développeur majeur, mais qui a souhaité rester anonyme, a déclaré à pv magazine que les prix retenus sont similaires à ceux relevés lors du dernier appel d’offres pour le parc solaire de Khavda. Bien que le site du projet pose quelques problèmes, les avantages liés à la disponibilité des terres et aux dispositions prises en matière d’évacuation l’emportent largement sur ces difficultés, toujours selon ce même promoteur.

Le site du projet est proche du bord de mer, de sorte que la salinité pourrait affecter les panneaux solaires et d’autres équipements. En outre, la structure solaire doit être conçue pour résister à la vitesse élevée des vents (200 km/h) dans la zone. Le plus intéressant dans ce projet est que toute l’infrastructure de base, y compris le terrain loué pour 25 ans, est fournie par GUVNL moyennant un paiement préalable unique, conformément au document d’appel d’offres.

Engie construit une centrale photovoltaïque de 400 MW au Gujarat en Inde
L’énergéticien français a obtenu le projet solaire par le biais d’un appel d’offres concurrentiel lors d’un appel d’offres organisé par le gestionnaire de réseau Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL). La mise en service du projet est prévue pour le deuxième trimestre 2024.

Engie a commencé la construction d’une centrale solaire de 400 MW dans l’État indien du Gujarat. Il a obtenu la capacité par le biais d’un appel d’offres concurrentiel dans le cadre d’une vente aux enchères de 750 MW par Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL). Le projet nécessite un investissement estimé à environ 200 millions de dollars (182 M€) et bénéficiera d’un accord d’achat d’électricité (PPA) de 25 ans signé avec GUVNL. Il devrait produire 907 GWh d’électricité et contribuer à compenser 774 112 tonnes d’émissions de carbone par an.

Engie a indiqué que la mise en service du projet est prévue pour le deuxième trimestre 2024. Une fois mis en service, ce projet portera à 1,5 GW le portefeuille total d’énergies renouvelables d’Engie en Inde, réparti sur 18 projets dans sept États. Au Gujarat, il s’agit du troisième projet renouvelable d’Engie après la mise en service d’un projet solaire de 200 MW à Raghanesda en août 2021 et d’un projet éolien de 29,9 MW à Tithva en 2019. « Le projet est actuellement en phase de construction, la décision finale d’investissement (FID) ayant déjà été prise… Cette décision FID réussie est une étape importante pour ENGIE et démontre notre potentiel à accélérer le développement de notre portefeuille d’énergies renouvelables et à atteindre notre objectif global d’ajouter 4 GW de capacité par an d’ici 2025, ce qui portera notre capacité installée mondiale à 50 GW », a déclaré le groupe français qui prévoit de continuer à développer ses capacités de stockage d’énergie et de fournir des solutions énergétiques innovantes à ses clients en Inde.

Larsen & Toubro, an Indian engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) specialist, has secured a contract to build a 75 MW floating solar plant on a dam in India.

Larsen & Toubro has revealed that its power transmission and distribution business has secured multiple orders in India and the Middle East.

In particular, the business division has obtained an order to establish a 75 MW floating PV plant on the Panchet Dam, on the border between the Indian state of Jharkhand and West Bengal. The plant forms part of the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park, which is being developed on Damodar Valley Corp. reservoirs in the two states.
