Un deuxième projet solaire en Allemagne pour EDP
Le producteur Energias de Portugal (EDP) vient de débuter la construction d’une centrale photovoltaïque au sol à Meuselwitz, au nord-est de l’Allemagne. D’une capacité installée de 65 MWc, elle alimentera les futurs sites de production d’hydrogène vert dans la région.

EDP, par l’intermédiaire d’EDP Renewables, poursuit sa croissance outre-Rhin avec le lancement de la construction d’un deuxième projet solaire à grande échelle, à Meuselwitz, en Allemagne, qui constitue l’un de ses principaux marchés. Situé dans le nord-est du pays, le futur parc photovoltaïque est le fruit d’une collaboration avec Kronos Solar EDPR, un développeur solaire basé en Allemagne acquis par EDP en 2022.

La nouvelle centrale photovoltaïque sera équipée de près de 105 000 panneaux bifaciaux, offrant une capacité installée de 64,6 MWc. Une fois opérationnelle, elle générera près de 69 GWh d’énergie propre par an, suffisamment pour alimenter près de 22 000 foyers, tout en contribuant à éviter 48 000 tonnes d’émissions de CO₂ chaque année. Le projet devrait être opérationnel début 2026.

Avec la production de Meuselwitz, EDP fournira son premier contrat d’achat d’électricité (PPA) établi sur le marché allemand, signé en 2024 avec Lhyfe, pour soutenir les futurs sites de production d’hydrogène vert de la société dans la région. « En plus d’un pipeline de projets solaires et éoliens à mettre en ligne en Allemagne, nous explorons également des solutions de stockage dans le cadre d’une approche multi-technologique visant à atteindre une capacité installée de 1 GW d’ici 2030 », souligne Pedro Vinagre, directeur exécutif pour l’Europe du Nord et Centrale chez EDP.

Le groupe Mosolf, prestataire de services intégrés pour l’industrie automobile en Europe, et l’entreprise énergétique suisse Axpo construisent en Allemagne une ombrière de parking d’une superficie de 109 000 mètres carrés, avec plus de 54 000 modules photovoltaïques.

L’énergéticien suisse Axpo a été sélectionné par le sous-traitant automobile allemand Mosolf pour construire l’une des plus grandes installations de toitures solaires de parking en Europe. Implanté à Kippenheim, en Allemagne, le projet couvre une superficie de 109 000 mètres carrés (soit environ la taille de 15 terrains de football) qui seront couverts de plus de 54 000 modules solaires. Une fois mise en service, à l’horizon fin 2026, le parc atteindra une capacité de 24 MWc, dont 3 MWc seront réservé pour l’autoconsommation de l’usine de Mosolf. La production attendue sera d’un peu plus de 26 700 MWh par an, dont 85 % sera injectée dans le réseau public.

Germany deploys 838.5 MW of PV in April
Germany installed 838.5 MW of solar in April as the PV market sharply contracted in the first four months of 2024, according to the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). Total installed capacity reached 104.9 GW by the end of April.

Germany installed 838.5 MW of new PV capacity in April, according to the latest figures from the Bundesnetzagentur.

This compares to 1,040 MW in April 2024 and 820.2 MW in March.

In the first four months of this year, newly installed PV capacity hit 4.65 GW in Germany, from around 4.98 GW in the same period a year earlier.
The country's cumulative PV capacity reached 104.9 GW at the end of April.

Bundesnetzagentur also revealed that around 53 MW of April's new additions comes from balcony solar systems, and that the rooftop PV segments contributed with around 449.4 MW.

Furthermore, it reported that 151 ground-mounted solar plants with a combined capacity of 245.6 MW were connected to the grid in April.

Of the newly installed capacity for the first four months of the year, 152.7 MW were balcony solar devices, 2530.2 MW were rooftop systems, 1945 MW were utility-scale systems and 46.6 MW were other systems.

L’Allemagne a déployé 7,1 GW de solaire au premier semestre
L’Allemagne a ajouté 905 MW de nouvelle capacité photovoltaïque en juin, selon l’Agence fédérale des réseaux (Bundesnetzagentur), portant les installations solaires cumulées depuis le début de l’année à plus de 7,1 GW.

Selon l’Agence fédérale des réseaux (Bundesnetzagentur), l’Allemagne a ajouté 8,65 GW de nouvelle capacité photovoltaïque au cours des sept premiers mois de 2025, portant le total cumulé des déploiements solaires à plus de 109 GW cette année.

Selon la Bundesnetzagentur, l’Allemagne a déployé environ 1,4 GW de nouvelle capacité photovoltaïque en juillet 2025, soit un peu plus que les 1 033 MW installés en juin 2025. Le rythme de déploiement reste toutefois stable par rapport aux quelque 1,4 GW enregistrés en juin 2024.

Au cours des sept premiers mois de 2025, les nouvelles installations photovoltaïques ont atteint environ 8,64 GW de puissance cumulée, contre environ 9,34 GW sur la même période l’année dernière.

Les systèmes en toiture ont représenté 628,7 MW de la nouvelle capacité installée en juillet, tandis que les projets au sol ont contribué à hauteur de 581,9 MW. Le reste provenait d’autres types de systèmes, notamment flottant.

La capacité photovoltaïque totale installée en Allemagne s’élève désormais à plus de 109 GW.

Germany records 453 hours of year-to-date negative electricity prices
Germany has logged 453 hours of negative day-ahead power prices this year, already above the total in 2024, while hours above €100 ($116.,54)/MWh have also surpassed last year.

These figures are likely to draw the attention of operators of large battery storage systems. On the first day of this week, sunny and windy conditions combined with low grid load produced additional hours of negative exchange electricity prices, surpassing last year’s record of 453 hours. As of Aug. 24, Germany had recorded 457 hours of negative day-ahead exchange prices.

This trend was evident earlier in the year, with 389 hours logged in the first half. July added another 12 hours, while August has so far contributed 56 hours of negative exchange prices.

The number of hours above €100/MWh has also already exceeded last year’s level. Blackout and crisis preparedness expert Herbert Saurugg analyzed the data for his platform, estimating 2,476 hours above €100/MWh so far this year, compared with 2,310 in 2023. During the energy crisis following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, there were far more peak price phases. Saurugg calculated 7,379 such hours in 2022 and 4,116 in 2023.

For operators of large-scale battery storage, whose margins depend on electricity price spreads, these are favorable conditions. Even as several large storage systems are under construction and being connected to the grid in Germany, the market outlook remains unchanged. Expansion of solar and wind power continues, supported by Federal Minister of Economics Katherina Reiche (CDU). RWTH Aachen University’s “Battery Charts” show that about 800 MWh of capacity have been added to large-scale battery storage this year.

Researchers now place total large-scale battery storage capacity at 3.0 gigawatt hours. By comparison, the Market Data Register shows almost 8.65 GW of new solar installed in the first seven months of 2024, lifting cumulative photovoltaic capacity above 109 GW in July.

Vattenfall has commissioned a 76 MW agrivoltaic plant in Germany under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG.

Sweden-based energy supplier Vattenfall has commissioned what it describes as Germany’s largest agrivoltaic plant to date.

The 76 MW facility is in Tützpatz, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and uses 146,000 bifacial 550 W solar modules from Chinese manufacturer GCL. Electricity is fed into the grid through 240 Sungrow SG250 HX string inverters.

The project spans 93 hectares, combining solar power generation with arable and livestock farming. Located in the Mecklenburg Lake District, it is connected to the Edis grid. A 50.4 MW/109 MWh battery storage system is also planned for 2027.

Vattenfall said the project was built without public subsidies. To secure economic viability, a power purchase agreement was signed with Power and Air Condition Solution Management GmbH (PASM). The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary will purchase all of the solar power generated for 10 years. The electricity would theoretically cover the annual needs of about 4,600 mobile phone sites, out of roughly 35,000 operated by PASM, Managing Director Bernd Schulte-Sprenger said at the commissioning ceremony.

Vattenfall developed the plant, planned since 2017, in three sections. Tützpatz 1 will provide 43.3 MW of capacity with modules on mounting systems from Portuguese manufacturer Pradecon at 11- and 25-degree inclinations across 47.5 hectares. This area combines solar generation with livestock farming.

Tützpatz 2 and Tützpatz 3 use Schletter tracking systems and will be combined with arable farming. The systems provide 13.3 MW across 21.5 hectares and 19.4 MW across 24 hectares.

For livestock farming, six mobile chicken coops, each housing up to 2,500 chickens, are planned. A conventional four-crop rotation is also foreseen for arable land. Vattenfall said the modules are mounted on a longitudinal axis and can tilt east-west from a horizontal position. Wider spacing between rows allows access for agricultural machinery.

In 2021, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania introduced a target deviation procedure, approving about 5,000 hectares of farmland for ground-mounted PV systems. A matrix was developed to define site criteria. Heiko Geue, Minister of Finance and Digitalization, welcomed the Tützpatz project, citing its high public acceptance and its role in attracting companies that “can come here and produce in a climate-neutral way.” He said the state government will continue to support such projects.
