Exxon-Mobil vient de publier son rapport prospectif annuel sur l'énergie.

Voici la conclusion:

• Energy demand will increase about 60% versus 2000
– Driven by population growth and economic progress
• Liquids, gas and coal remain predominant
− Fuel shares essentially unchanged
• Energy resources are adequate to sustain growth
– Large scale investments required in a timely manner
– Energy interdependence growing
• Technology remains vital to meeting energy challenges
– Increase energy efficiency and mitigate CO2 emissions
– Expand available energy resources

Je ne m'attendais pas à trouver ceci chez Exxon, généralement assez vilain :

Many options exist that help mitigate CO2 emissions. Some of these are straightforward and relate to the wise and efficient use of energy (sobriété, efficacité) in our everyday life. Others are technology options.
Nuclear power is clearly an option, though it carries issues regardinf new plant sitings and waste management. Clean coal technology - where carbon is captured and sequestered, or stored, underground - is another option, albeit a costly one. These options are important in the power generation sector, an area where CO2 emissions are significant and growing.
Other sectors are important as well, includinf transportation. Here we expect better vehicle technologies, including HCCI and hybrid vehicles, as well as cleaner fuels, will make a significant difference.

Pratiquement toute la théorie de la Tartiflette, à cela près que Exxon n'a pas encore inventé la voiture électrique, ni le CTL ; les éoliennes restent dans la tache aveugle.
