US Drillers Add Oil, Gas Rigs As Hormuz Transit Resumes By Julianne Geiger - Jun 26, 2026 The total number of active drilling rigs for oil and gas in the United States rose this week, according to new data that Baker Hughes published on Friday, bringing the total rig count in the US to 573, up 26 from this same time last year. The number of active oil rigs rose by 7 to 440 during the latest reporting period, according to the data. This is 8 above this same time last year. The number of gas rigs rose by 3 to 125, which is 16 more than this time last year. The miscellaneous rig stayed the same at 8. The latest EIA data showed that weekly U.S. crude oil production rose during the week ending June 19. US crude oil production averaged 13.819 million bpd during the reporting period, up from 13.806 million bpd last week and up 384,000 bpd from a year ago.

Aux Etats-Unis, la réserve stratégique de pétrole au plus bas depuis 1983 BFM Business OC avec AFP 15 juin 2026 Au 12 juin, la réserve stratégique américaine (SPR) ne comptait plus que 340,3 millions de barils, un seuil inédit depuis juillet 1983. Les stocks stratégiques de pétrole brut ont chuté à leur plus bas niveau en plus de quarante ans aux Etats-Unis, selon un document du ministère de l'Energie consulté lundi par l'AFP. Au 12 juin, la réserve stratégique américaine (SPR) ne comptait plus que 340,3 millions de barils, un seuil inédit depuis juillet 1983. Pour atténuer les tensions d'approvisionnement liées à la guerre au Moyen-Orient, Washington s'est engagé à libérer progressivement 172 millions de barils sur les 415 millions qui composaient les réserves stratégiques fin février.

Les États-Unis vont prêter 53,3 millions de barils de pétrole de leur réserve stratégique Reuters •11/05/2026 L'administration Trump a déclaré lundi qu'elle prêterait aux entreprises énergétiques 53,3 millions de barils de brut provenant de la réserve stratégique de pétrole des États-Unis dans le cadre d'un accord mondial visant à apaiser les marchés pétroliers qui ont connu une flambée en raison de la guerre entre les États-Unis et Israël contre l'Iran. Neuf entreprises, dont Exxon Mobil XOM.N , Trafigura et Marathon Petroleum Company, n'ont emprunté qu'environ 58 %des 92,5 millions de barils que le ministère de l'Énergie avait proposé le mois dernier de prêter à partir de la SPR. Au printemps dernier, le DOEavait déjà prêté environ 80 millions de barils provenant de la SPR, dans le cadre de son objectif de mettre sur le marché un total de 172 millions de barils. Les États-Unis ont accepté ce volume plus important en mars dans le cadre d'un pacte conclu avec plus de 30 pays au sein de l'Agence internationale de l'énergie (AIE) visant à mettre sur le marché environ 400 millions de barils. Cet accord visait à faire baisser les prix du pétrole et des carburants, poussés à la hausse par la fermeture par l'Iran du détroit d'Ormuz, un goulet d'étranglement par lequel transitaient habituellement environ 20 % du pétrole mondial chaque jour. Fatih Birol, le directeur de l'AIE, a déclaré que la guerre avait provoqué la plus grave crise énergétique jamais connue . Si les perturbations de l'approvisionnement liées à la guerre persistent, l'AIE est prête à libérer du pétrole supplémentaire provenant des réserves stratégiques, a déclaré M. Birol le 7 mai. À ce jour, les pays membres ont libéré 20% des réserves disponibles, a indiqué M. Birol . La flambée des prix des carburants constitue un risque pour les républicains, alliés du président Donald Trump, qui font campagne pour conserver leur faible majorité au Congrès américain lors des élections de mi-mandat de novembre. Les prix de l'essence aux États-Unis ont atteint en moyenne 4,52 dollars le gallon lundi, leur plus haut niveau depuis 2022, selon les données de l'association automobile AAA. Le DOE prête du pétrole provenant de la SPR à des entreprises qui le rembourseront en brut, avec des primes pouvant atteindre 24%. Le département affirme que ce système contribuera à stabiliser les marchés sans aucun coût pour les contribuables américains. La SPR, stockée dans des cavités souterraines sur quatre sites situés sur les côtes du Texas et de la Louisiane, contient actuellement environ 384 millions de barils, soit moins que ce que la consommation mondiale représente en quatre jours.
