Cercle Finance •12/08/2024

https://worldoil.com/news/2024/8/2/mult ... n-success/Multiple U.S. shale producers boost 2024 oil and gas production forecasts following unexpected Permian success
(Bloomberg) – Some leading U.S. shale producers are planning to pump more oil this year than originally projected, a sign national supply could exceed the modest growth expectations many companies had pledged.
EOG Resources Inc., one of the largest independent shale producers, Coterra Energy Inc. and Civitas Resources Inc. increased their 2024 production forecasts Thursday, with the latter saying it is seeing stronger-than-expected well performance in the Permian basin, North America’s busiest oil and gas field, where five producers over the past week reported results that surprised to the upside. Ovintiv Inc. and Matador Resources Co. made similar recent production announcements

2023-juin.

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-Gene ... r-SPR.htmlU.S. Administration Buys 6 Million Barrels of Crude for SPR
By Tsvetana Paraskova - Oct 01, 202
The U.S. Administration has awarded contracts to buy 6 million barrels of crude oil for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) for deliveries through May 2025, the Department of Energy said this week.
The contracts were awarded last week and are for deliveries of 1.5 million barrels per month between February and May 2025 to the Bayou Choctaw site in Louisiana, following the Request for Proposal (RFP) that was announced on September 18.
In August, the Administration said that the United States would continue to buy crude when prices are in the $70s a barrel or lower and plans to add several million barrels of crude to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve early next year.
At the time of the awarding of the latest contracts for the SPR refill, the U.S. benchmark WTI Crude traded below $70 per barrel.
To date, DOE has directly purchased over 56 million barrels of oil for the SPR at an average price of about $76 per barrel, it said.
“This is nearly $20 per barrel lower than the $95 average sales price for 2022’s emergency sales, meeting the Administration’s commitment to secure a good deal for taxpayers,” the Energy Department said.
“DOE will continue to evaluate options to refill the SPR while securing a good deal for taxpayers, taking into account planned exchange returns and market developments.”
The replenishment strategy comes in the wake of the SPR’s critical role in stabilizing the market during global supply disruptions, notably the release of more than 180 million barrels of oil from the SPR starting in 2021, as gasoline prices remained high. The Department of Treasury claims that these releases, along with coordinated international efforts, helped reduce gasoline prices by up to 40 cents per gallon in 2022.
The SPR currently houses 375 million barrels of crude—a figure that is 263 million barrels less than oil in the SPR at the beginning of President Joe Biden’s term in office. The Reserve’s total capacity is 714 million barrels of crude.

https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafH ... SSTUS1&f=W

https://www.rigzone.com/news/when_will_ ... 0-article/When Will USA Crude Oil Production Peak?
by Andreas Exarheas|Rigzone Staff | Wednesday, October 02, 2024
James Davis, the Director of Short-Term Global Oil Service & Head of Upstream Oil at FGE, revealed to Rigzone that FGE expects U.S. crude oil production to peak at “around 14 to 14.2 million barrels per day”.
“We believe crude oil production in the U.S. is nearing its peak now, but the actual peak level may not be seen until another major upwards price cycle, perhaps later this decade,” Davis told Rigzone.
In its latest short term energy outlook (STEO), which was released earlier this month, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) forecast that U.S. crude oil production, including lease condensate, would average 13.25 million barrels per day in 2024 and 13.67 million barrels per day in 2025. The September STEO put total U.S. crude oil production at 12.93 million barrels per day last year.
The 2024 projection in the EIA’s latest STEO marked a slight increase compared to its previous August STEO, where the EIA forecast that U.S. crude oil production would average 13.23 million barrels per day this year. The 2025 projection in the EIA’s September STEO marked a slight decrease compared to the 2025 projection in the EIA’s August STEO, however. The August STEO put U.S. crude oil production at 13.69 million barrels per day in 2025.
According to data on the EIA website, which shows yearly U.S. field production of crude oil from the 1850s to 2023 and was last updated on September 30, U.S. field production of crude oil has never seen a yearly average of 13 million barrels per day or above. The closest it came was in 2023, when it averaged 12.935 million barrels per day, the data outlined.
The second highest yearly average of U.S. field production of crude oil was seen in 2019, at 12.314 million barrels per day, and the third highest yearly average was seen in 2022, at 11.992 million barrels per day, the data showed.
Data on the EIA website showing monthly U.S. field production of crude oil from January 1920 to July 2024, which was also last updated on September 30, outlined that U.S. field production of crude oil has averaged 13 million barrels per day or more in a month on 11 occasions.
December 2023 saw the highest monthly U.S. field production of crude oil in the dataset, at 13.308 million barrels per day. The second highest figure was seen in November 2023, at 13.281 million barrels per day, and the third highest figure was seen in April 2024, at 13.249 million barrels per day, according to the data.
In its latest statistical review of world energy, which was released back in June this year, the Energy Institute (EI) showed that U.S. crude oil and condensate production came in at 12.927 million barrels per day in 2023.
That figure marked an 8.5 percent year on year increase and 15.6 percent of global crude oil and condensate production in 2023, according to the review, which outlined that, from 2013 to 2023, U.S. crude oil and condensate production has grown by an average of 5.6 percent year on year.
According to its website, FGE provides “leading and independent fundamental analysis, insights, data and consultation on the oil, natural gas, LNG, NGLs and new energy markets to a large and diverse client base around the world”.
The EIA describes itself as the statistical and analytical agency within the U.S. Department of Energy. It collects, analyzes, and disseminates independent and impartial energy information to promote sound policymaking, efficient markets, and public understanding of energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment, its site notes.
The EI describes itself as the chartered professional membership body for people who work across the world of energy. It states on its site that its purpose is “creating a better energy future for our members and society by accelerating a just global energy transition to net zero”.

https://www.rigzone.com/news/eia_lowers ... 5-article/EIA Lowers USA Crude Oil Production Forecast for 2024 and 2025
by Andreas Exarheas|Rigzone Staff | Thursday, October 17, 2024
In its latest short term energy outlook (STEO), which was released recently, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reduced its U.S. crude oil production forecast for this year and next year.
The EIA’s October STEO projected that U.S. crude oil output, including lease condensate, will average 13.22 million barrels per day in 2024 and 13.54 million barrels per day in 2025. The organization’s previous STEO, which was released in September, forecast that U.S. crude oil production would average 13.25 million barrels per day this year and 13.67 million barrels per day next year.
In its latest STEO, the EIA projected that Lower 48 states, excluding the Gulf of Mexico, will contribute 11.03 million barrels per day of the 2024 total. The Federal Gulf of Mexico is expected to produce 1.77 million barrels per day of this year’s total and Alaska is expected to produce 0.42 million barrels per day of the 2024 total, according to the STEO.
Next year, Lower 48 states, excluding the Gulf of Mexico, are anticipated to contribute 11.32 million barrels per day of the total U.S. crude oil production figure, the STEO showed. The Federal Gulf of Mexico is expected to produce 1.82 million barrels per day of next year’s total and Alaska is expected to produce 0.40 million barrels per day of the 2025 total, the STEO highlighted.
A quarterly breakdown included in the October STEO projected that U.S. crude oil production will average 13.45 million barrels per day in the fourth quarter of this year, 13.46 million barrels per day in the first quarter of 2025, 13.53 million barrels per day in the second quarter, 13.54 million barrels per day in the third quarter, and 13.64 million barrels per day in the fourth quarter.

https://www.rigzone.com/news/wire/biden ... 7-article/Biden Administration Endorses Approval of Texas Oil Port
by Bloomberg|Ari Natter | Friday, November 01, 202
The Environmental Protection Agency has given its blessing for a proposed Texas oil port capable of exporting 1 million barrels of oil a day, even as the terminals face increasing scrutiny from environmental activists, progressive lawmakers and local officials.
In a letter from the EPA made public by opponents of the project Thursday, the agency said it “does not object to the issuance of a license” for Sentinel Midstream LLC’s Texas Gulflink Deepwater Port. The company, which is backed by private equity firm Cresta Fund Management, still needs final approval via a record of decision from the Transportation Department’s Maritime Administration. The decision is expected by December 12.
The project, proposed off the coast of Brazoria County, Texas, would allow oversized oil tankers known as very large crude carriers, or VLCCs, to load as much as 85,000 barrels of crude oil an hour. The Biden administration in April signed off on a similar nearby export facility by Enterprise Products Partners with the capacity to export 2 million barrels of oil a day and applications for two other deepwater oil export terminals are pending. The approvals come as large vessels are increasingly being used on shorter routes and as massive growth in US oil exports is expected by the end of the decade.
The facilities have drawn fire from progressive Democratic lawmakers, local officials and climate activists who have been pressuring President Joe Biden to halt the projects arguing they contradict his administration’s commitment to environmental justice and fighting climate change.
GulfLink alone would be responsible for more than 100 million tons of upstream and downstream greenhouse gas emissions per year, according to Earthworks, an environmental group opposed to the project. Sentinel Midstream didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The EPA, in its letter dated October 25, said the agency “recommends continued emphasis on ensuring environmental justice and climate change considerations be included in the licensing project for the protection of overburdened communities.”
