La production doit commencer fin 2010, et Tullow attend 120 000 b/j. La ghana qui ne produit actuellement que d'insignifiantes quantités de pétrole va ainsi subitement devenir un exportateur non négligeable.
Le gisement pèse au moins 600 Mb récupérables, sa découverte date de début 2008 - passer de la découverte à la production en deux ans et demi est proche d'un record.

Anadarko and Tullow have long claimed that the geological trend discovered at Jubilee extends hundreds of miles westward. They quickly bought up exploration acreage all along the West African coast, and Anadarko now has eight million acres across 10 blocks in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast and Ghana. The company claims Venus proves its theory was right.

"It really confirms that the same play that we saw in Ghana and pursued through these 700 miles is present, and now de-risks an awful lot of that area," said Bob Daniels, Anadarko's head of exploration, in an interview.

Le but est de récuperer le Gaz associé au champs pétrolier, le transporter à terre, récuperer les condensats, stocker le Gaz.

Ghana selects Oando for $1bn Natural Gas Project

Oando, Nigeria's leading integrated energy solutions provider announces that it has been selected as a Strategic Partner to the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to develop assets and infrastructure to harness the gas that will be produced from the offshore Jubilee oilfield.

The oil field is rated as West Africa's current largest offshore deepwater discovery in over a decade, with proven reserves in excess of 300 million barrels of recoverable oil and a potential for 1.8 billion barrels.

GNPC had shortlisted companies following a highly competitive bid process involving over fifty reputable local, regional and international corporations. From the initial fifty, five companies made the final selection from which Oando (Lead Developer) and Saipem (a globally renowned Oil & Gas engineering, procurement and construction firm) and Modec-Itochu (a Japanese oil & gas consortium) were chosen to form a joint consortium with GNPC.

The scope of the project includes the development of offshore and onshore high pressure gas transmission pipelines, Processing Facility, Liquefied Petroleum Gas and Condensate storage tanks, as well as other ancillary structures. The US$1 billion ultra-modern facility is planned to commence operations in the near future.

ExxonMobil has agreed to acquire large stake in Ghana’s Jubilee oil field from its private equity owners, paying about $4bn for one of Africa’s most potentially lucrative oil discoveries in recent years.

The deal was first mooted at the end of last year and attracted interest from many of the world’s big oil groups, but became bogged down by horse-trading with Ghana’s government.

Un futur grand du pétrole en Afrique de l'Ouest, le Ghana, attise les convoitises chinoises

Le Ghana, voisin d'en face des côtes nord du Brésil il y a de cela 120 millions d'années, fait lui aussi partie de ce complexe pétrolier Sud Atlantique de l'ancien Gondwana (LIRE). Son champ offshore de Jubilee découvert en Juin 2007 et qui s'étendrait plus à l'Est que prévu initialement (FIG.) contiendrait aux dernières nouvelles dans les 1,8 milliards de barils nous informe un des opérateurs, le pétrolier Tullow, qui détient 23% des parts (LIRE le communiqué d'Anadarko par exemple). Tullow est associé dans cette aventure avec Kosmos qui est opérateur sur une autre partie du champ. Anadarko et le pétrolier ganhéen GNPC (Ghana National Petroleum Company) sont également associés à ce développement.

L'affaire est si intéressante qu'Exxon Mobil semblait avoir trouvé un accord de 4 milliards de dollars pour racheter les 23,5% de droits de Kosmos sur l'exploitation de ces ressources qui devraient démarrer en 2010 et faire du Ghana un nouveau pays de l'Afrique de l'Ouest exportateur de pétrole.



Mais voila, le Financial Times fait savoir que le pétrolier local GNPC se dit prêt à acheter les droits de Kosmos et de rechercher des alliances avec le mieux disant, pour l'associer à ce projet. Il semblerait que dans les faits le partenaire préféré de GNPC et bailleur de fonds pour l'affaire soit déjà déterminé, ce serait le chinois CNOOC. Décidément, les places pour trouver un fauteil dans un champ pétrolier quasiment développé au soleil sont de plus en plus rares et difficiles à acquérir. La compétition sino-américaine joue à fond.

la Ghana en train de devenir la 73 iéme paradis fiscal. Et le premier d' Afrique.

Il y avait une séquence la dessus dans l' émission TV sur la 2 hier tard le soir dans "Infra rouge".

Avec de l' exploitation de pétrole la dessus, ca va étre un sacré merdier pour la population en bas de l' échelle.

Barclays Bank y a construit une filiale flambant neuve et haut de gamme.

lien : un 2e puits dans la découverte "Tweneboa" confirme qu'il s'agit d'un gisement assez important. selon tullow, le gisement pourrait contenir jusqu'à 1.4 Gb (probablement "'en place")

Le gisement Jubilee , avec des réserves d'au moins 600 Mb, doit produire à la fin de cette année à environ 120 kb/j.

Voilà donc bientôt un nouveau producteur significatif en Afrique de l'Ouest.

NEW YORK, Feb 8 (Reuters) - The government of Ghana has blocked the estimated $4 billion sale of a stake in its Jubilee oil field, foiling months of talks between potential buyer Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) and the stake's owner, Kosmos Energy LLC, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

A Ghanaian official said state-run Ghana National Petroleum Corp would be the only entity allowed to buy Kosmos' stake in the field, the Journal said.

Vanco (opérateur), associé à Lukoil, a fait une découverte au Ghana.
C'est plus au sud (donc plus loin en mer) que le gisement "jubilee) que Tullow est en train de développer. La colonne de pétrole fait 25 mètres nets.

Pour vanco, c'est un grand "ouf", depuis que cette compagnie avait vendu ses gisements en mer du nord pour s'avanturer dans l'exploration autour de l'afrique, tous les forages étaient vains.

Un deuxième gisement de pétrole découvert au large du Ghana :

La compagnie britannique de prospection pétrolière Tullow Oil PLC annonce avoir découvert un deuxième gisement de pétrole au large du Ghana.

Le "nouveau et important champ pétrolifère" d'Owo contient l'équivalent d'au moins 70 millions de barils, affirme Tullow Oil, dont les estimations montent jusqu'à 550 millions de barils.

Le premier gisement, Jubilee Field, recèle entre 650 millions et deux milliards de barils d'or noir.

Brazil To Build Ethanol Factory In Ghana

The Brazilian government is to establish a $300 million sugar cane plantation to produce over 100,000 cubic meters of ethanol at Makango, near Salaga in the Northern region.

Ethanol is expected to become Ghana’s fourth major export after cocoa, gold and timber. The factory would generate 42 Megawatts (MW) of energy from Bagasse, which is the fibrous matter that remains after the sugar cane is crushed to extract the juice.

The factory would use seven MW and sell 35 MW to other power generating companies. This was disclosed by the Brazilian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency, Luis Fernando Serra in an exclusive interview with City & Business Guide.

Asked why Makango was chosen for the project, the envoy indicated that the soil for the proposed 2700-hectare plantation was good and had enough water from the Volta Lake to do good business. Commenting on the election of Madam Dilma Rousseff, the first female President of Brazil, Ambassador Serra pointed out that the results mean continuity and also showed the support given to her by the Lula administration.

ACCRA — Ghana will start commercial oil production on December 17, a government official announced on Thursday, with the recent discovery generating hope as well as warnings against mismanagement.

"We are expecting first oil on December 17," deputy information minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa told AFP.

"The government and the Jubilee partners are anxiously looking forward to the day," he added, referring to the offshore oil field where the production will occur.

The Jubilee field, discovered in 2007 by US firm Kosmos and operated by Anglo-Irish firm Tullow Oil, is estimated to contain some 1.6 billion barrels of crude, making it one of the largest finds in West Africa in recent years.

It has led to expectations that oil revenue will help the government in Ghana, viewed as among the region's most stable democracies, further grow the economy and finance infrastructure.

But many have also warned of the corruption and mismanagement that have plagued oil-producing countries such as nearby Nigeria.

Lawmakers have been debating a bill aimed at setting objectives for how oil revenue will be spent.

Tullow said this month that it expected production to reach 50,000 barrels per day before the end of the year.
